You are brilliant Kate!

Thanks for not suing and letting us re-pin! :)

Oh Baby!

Welcome to the World sweet baby EVERETT GRACE!

My dear sweet friend Jill just had a healthy baby girl!  We are so excited about how beautiful Baby Evie is and so blessed that we were able to travel to see her.  She is such a beautiful baby that everyone else looks dull in comparison.  So don’t be alarmed at how weird I look holding her.

In honor of her arrival we wanted to make something really special.  Together we came up with painting wooden blocks with her initials, birthday, birth stats, and a sweet message from her honorary aunts.  We chose paint colors to match her adorable bedding and I refrained from putting a bird on the blocks.  Even still they turned out really precious and something unique for Jill to treasure forever.

You should be proud mama!  I know we are!

Vintage Tea Cart

There is nothing better than being able to go yard selling with my mom, especially when i am quick enough to spot a great find before she does.  In this case my mom spotted this vintage tea cart at a sale where all proceeds were going towards a family raising support for their son's adoption AND she bought it for me.  This was a win-win-win!  The tea cart is in amazing shape and the original color was a dull bronze.

After cleaning it up, i wrapped the wheels in plastic bags to avoid the paint.

Then i chose the most bold color of spray paint that i could find: Rust-Oleum's Key Lime!

I love the way it turned out and can't wait to use it!
Happy Spring Everyone!

Handy Map

This is a map that my dad was getting rid of.

He has had this map of Nashville since 1981 and it has been his guide ever since.  Basically it was his GPS before there even was a GPS. Because of my background with bookmaking i have a weird love for paper.  Not the bizarre kind that would land me on a episode of TLC’s ‘My Strange Addiction’, but a love none-the-less.  This map is the type of thing that i consider to be a treasure, and i am so excited to reuse it and give it a new life.  I am not sure where the idea came from, but i think it’s one that might bring my dad to tears… check back to find out what i did with it.

Coffee Table

I don’t know about you, but it’s really easy for me to deliberately spend hours of intense research on pinterest.  Okay- really I just procrastinate my reality and love to live in a pinterest fantasy where my house, style, and everything else are perfection.  Almost everything on pinterest is great… but occasionally instead of just pinning something pretty I really get inspired to make something.  Lately I have stumbled upon some really cool painted furniture.  I am thinking about taking my coffee table in its current state…

... and turning it into a funky painted masterpiece.

Here are some of the inspiration pics that I have recently pinned.

1. Cute quote

 2. Bold Numbers

3. Favorite passage from book

4. Bold Tape Design

I like them all… so i'm leaving it up to my followers.  Leave a comment on which style I should go with and the design with the most votes will win.
Happy Saturday!

Getting a new blog!!!

So excited to share that i am in the process of getting a new blog design!  My amazing friend Mae Mae just had her blog re-done and it looks incredible.  So good in fact that i immediately called, emailed and texted her about how good it looked.  Then proceeded to not be able to sleep because i was too awake thinking about how cool my blog could potentially be.

Maddie over at Thriftary is a blog genius.  She is responsible for making Mae Mae's blog come to life and soon mine will be in that club.  She can literally make anything and look fierce while doing it.  I am sooooooooooooooooooo super excited about getting a new blog.  Maddie- i know this might be jumping the gun- but i just am thrilled to get a make-over.  It has even inspired me to blog two days in a row.

If you don't know either one of these fab ladies, check yourself and then start following.  Both are brilliant, witty and beautiful people.  Take a moment to be jealous of them, and then quickly get inspired by their generosity of sharing their creativity and lives with the world.

Tattoo Artist

I love tattoos.  If my mom wouldn’t disown me this is how i would look:

But for her sake i will keep my tattoos on the conservative side and to a minimum.  However, i think that almost always (except for the tragic ones you would typically see at a water park) tattoos are beautiful.  I personally could never be a tattoo artist.  They have to be so skilled and quickly move the ink to create a flawless design right before your eyes.  Oh yeah- and talk about the pressure of not making a mistake!  Knowing myself- i would probably spell someone’s name wrong.

In a former life i was an art teacher and was always concerned that my young and sheltered students would notice my tattoo and run home crying.  My brother-in-law has a different approach.  He still teaches, and while he will probably never be inked up, most of his students will.  He works with very impressionable high school freshman and is constantly asking them to question whether they are “a tattoo artist or a customer.”   Whether they are going to leave their mark on someone else, or let someone else leave their mark on them.  BRILLIANT- and relevant enough that some of his students actually have listened to him.

A great quote like this deserves to be on display.  So this is what i gave David for Christmas:

I hope his students enjoy it as much as the mural that i painted on their classroom wall last year…
Happy Leap Day Everyone!!!
