Giveaway!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am participating in a little giveaway over at Living In Yellow and by little I mean it’s the biggest giveaway in the world.  You can win a crap ton of prizes so you should probably head over there, including a gift card from me!  Oh and yes I just said crap ton.

For all the new faces that just want one more entry to increase their chance of winning or for those who want to increase the amount of BS in their life, I welcome you both.
If you have stuck around long enough to get to this paragraph, congrats!  Let me reward you with a little something about me:
DI am an artist that lives in East Nashville TN.
DMost days I have a smudge of paint somewhere on my skin, my clothes or in my hair.  None of which are intentional.
DI don’t like to shower.  Which sometimes gets awkward when people ask "oh did you paint today?” and I answer No.  (see the above statement).
DI own an adorable 1930’s bungalow that is commonly referred to as the Bird House.
DI am learning to take my time and not rush projects.  I curse while standing on my washing machine.
DThe last time my finger nails were unpainted was probably in 2006.  They sometimes look like this.
DI dream about art projects and wake up with amazing revelations about how to finish them.
DMy life has been a series of awkward embarrassing events.  Including puking on my 6th grade teacher after falling in gym and breaking both my wrists… in front of the ENTIRE 6th grade.

Hopefully you will come back and laugh at me... uh with me again!  And seriously... you should check out the giveaway... now!

Drumroll please

(Dramatic pause)
and the winner is:
Wendy

Thanks to everyone who entered to win and found my little blog along the way.  I hope that you stick around and stay awhile... if that's not your style just check back next month for another giveaway!

The winner is chosen randomly by me writing everyone's name on little slips of paper, throwing them up in the air, and catching one name before it falls.  It's pretty much the most fun way to pick a winner! :)

Doors, Cake and Gift Cards!

Welcome back birdies!  I hope that your weekend was more productive than mine was!  Like every day of my life I had grand plans of knocking out something off my to-do list.  This weekend was going to be the weekend that I repainted my laundry room... but was slowed down by a stomach bug and this sweet pup Marley (aka 'Lady Diesel') instead.

My roommate Ivy however was way more inspired to create than I was!  It pays to live with a talented baker!  Hello angel food cake!

But I did manage to get off the couch long enough to grab these two doors free off a porch in East Nashers.  Project new doors is quickly coming to fruition!

I can't believe someone didn't want these anymore!

Lastly, you will be this excited when you get these little bad boys in the mail.  Oh wait.. you have to enter to win them first... go for it!

Heart Shutters

A couple of months ago I scooped up these shutters free on a curb in East Nashville.  They are kind of cute and definitely country (which just happens to not really be my personal aesthetic).  I knew that I wasn’t planning on using them on the outside of my house, but didn’t really want to pass them up either.  I tend to do this a lot.  (Probably the definition of a hoarder.)

So after having them on the back burner of my crafting thoughts I finally decided to paint them.  I mixed up some of my left over Sun Ray and white paint and gave them a good white wash.  Or should I say yellow wash?

Any who- it’s hard to tell in the pictures but the texture and imperfect painting is WONDERFUL and I love them even more now with a rustic touch.  I am still undecided about where to put them in my house (possibly in my laundry room).   I have three more shutters just like them that I want to turn into a bench for my backyard.  I also was able to scoop up a vintage door (which is what the shutters are leaning on) that has way more charm that any of mine so one doorway in my house is getting an upgrade!
Oh... p.s. There are 9 more days left in the GIVE AWAY!

Mason Jar Giveaway!

This weekend i sold some of my recent projects (soon to be blogged about) at a local school's Fall Festival.  While the overall show was more of a miss than a hit, there was one favorite item that everyone loved.  I have to agree with the public that my Chalkboard Mason Jars are pretty amazing, and i want to share them with you.  I took several vintage mason jars that i got from an estate sale, and chose several cool and funny templates to stencil on using my favorite chalkboard paint.

After washing off the decades of layered dust,

I used tracing paper to sketch out my designs including a mustache, rooster, and a tree.

To make my life easier i taped my design to the INSIDE of the jar and painted inside the lines, on the outside of the jar.

Since the jars are painted with chalkboard paint, the labels can easily be erased and rewritten with chalk whenever you want to change them!  The winner will receive 3 large mason jars of your choice!

This giveaway comes at a good time because i want to thank everyone who has been following me!!!  Thank you for supporting my new hobby and forever passion of crafting great things!  There are three super easy steps to win:

1st:  Follow my blog.  (you must click to follow.  If you just subscribed by email I can't see you, so follow publicly to ensure you win!)

2nd: Get a friend to follow my blog (someone new to my blog world)

Last but not least:
Leave a comment letting me know who you got to follow me and your name will go into the drawing!

The contest if for US residents only.
The giveaway has ended.
The winner will be contacted by email.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!
