My dirty laundry is getting cuter by the second…

So a couple of weeks ago I showcased my laundry room makeover using a chevron pattern to create an accent wall and tried to make it the easiest process possible (learn from my mistakes right?).  I still love the outcome so much that I have been doing laundry every day just so I can be in my laundry room.

Yeah Right.
I haven’t done my laundry since I finished the room.
I have a life folks.
What I have been doing is painting a LOT of things… like a hamper that coordinates with the chevron pattern in the laundry room.  {okay… so maybe the life I have is kind of nerdy}
Nerd or not you can’t argue with how adorable this hamper is!

I spray painted the entire wicker hamper with several coats of high gloss white spray paint.  Then I used painter’s tape to create a V shape with the points lining up in the center of the hamper.  I made sure the tape was really pressed onto the wicker and then painted around the tape with gray latex interior paint.  I was careful to place the paint brush on the painters tape and pull it away from the tape NEVER painting towards the edge of the tape.  It’s impossible to get a perfect clean line on wicker but that is the closest I could get.

Once the paint had dried I carefully removed the painters tape and instantly dumped my growing pile of dirty laundry in it.  I'm tired from all that painting… my laundry will have to wait.

Until tomorrow friends!  You can find out what my favorite things for September are!

The day I became a vegan...

Today is the day I became a vegan… well… okay the day I SHOULD become a vegan. Let’s be real folks.  I am lactose intolerant.  This means I tell people that I can’t eat dairy and then I go and get ice cream at Sonic.

It’s really a lose-lose situation for me and the people in the same room when I choose to break the dairy rules.  But it is sooooooo incredibly hard to turn down amazing pizza, homemade ice cream, buttered popcorn, and queso dip at Mexican restaurants.  What all these foods have in common besides high levels of things that make my stomach churn is that they are all TERRIBLE for me.  So, it has taken me years of justifying ‘just this once’, not so great skin, my mom altering recipes to accommodate my dietary needs, rancid gas, and friends saying ‘have you ever thought about taking a lactaid???' to come to a final conclusion.  I am becoming a Vegan... for 30 days.  I feel that writing this for the world to see will somehow make it more real this time.  (oh I guess I should mention I have made claims like this before).

I had already been thinking about doing this... but needed the push from Mae's post of a 30 day challenge.  Over at her blog (which is incredible) she talks about the power of consistently doing something for 30 days.  I am hoping that this smaller goal will turn into a lifestyle.

Now older and wiser and more aware of the lasting affects food can have on a person I feel that this time is going to be different.  Are there any other wannabe or real Vegans out there?  Any favorite recipes or tips you would like to share?
I will post back in a week to let you know how incredibly hard rewarding going vegan has been!

Wobble Wobble Shake It Shake It

This little baby was a wobbling mess when my friend Morgan first introduced us.  This thing wobbles more than my booty on the dance floor (or my booty on any floor).  So I named the table “Wobble” and referred to it as that all day.

Wobble was just a plain ole wooden table that Morgan adopted from a friend.  We tighten the screws to make it more stable, and sprayed it with waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many coats of spray paint.  We’re talking spray paint dripping off Wobble onto the pavement.  Oops.  No worries, because the plan never had the word ‘perfect’ in it.  After allowing the majority of paint to dry we took sand paper and went to work removing the paint all over the surface of the table.  We really were going for the distressed look and focused on removing the paint the most on the edges and highlighting the details of the table.

This Wobble gave Morgan extra storage in her bathroom and is a cute excuse for her to go buy another candle! :)

Nashville Flea

Hey everyone!  Hope that you had an amazing weekend!  I totally have a case of the Mondays starting a new week completely exhausted!  This past week I failed to get a post up into the blogosphere because I was preparing for the Nashville Flea Market.  My mom and I got a booth there and were able to sell a bunch of our painted creations.  It is always a surprise to me what sells and what is left… this month I am actually excited about several items that made the trek back home.  One of which is now a side table at my house!  It was meant to be mine! :)

Another item I am secretly lusting over and glad that I get to keep are these nesting metal tables… adorable!

Here are a couple other pics from our booth.  In true BS fashion I failed to get a picture of my mom and I… I’ll try again next month.

I can't wait to catch up and see what you guys did this weekend!  Hope it was great for everyone!
