Wobble Wobble Shake It Shake It

This little baby was a wobbling mess when my friend Morgan first introduced us.  This thing wobbles more than my booty on the dance floor (or my booty on any floor).  So I named the table “Wobble” and referred to it as that all day. 

Wobble was just a plain ole wooden table that Morgan adopted from a friend.  We tighten the screws to make it more stable, and sprayed it with waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many coats of spray paint.  We’re talking spray paint dripping off Wobble onto the pavement.  Oops.  No worries, because the plan never had the word ‘perfect’ in it.  After allowing the majority of paint to dry we took sand paper and went to work removing the paint all over the surface of the table.  We really were going for the distressed look and focused on removing the paint the most on the edges and highlighting the details of the table. 

 

 

   This Wobble gave Morgan extra storage in her bathroom and is a cute excuse for her to go buy another candle! :)

Nashville Flea

Hey everyone!  Hope that you had an amazing weekend!  I totally have a case of the Mondays starting a new week completely exhausted!  This past week I failed to get a post up into the blogosphere because I was preparing for the Nashville Flea Market.  My mom and I got a booth there and were able to sell a bunch of our painted creations.  It is always a surprise to me what sells and what is left… this month I am actually excited about several items that made the trek back home.  One of which is now a side table at my house!  It was meant to be mine! :)

Another item I am secretly lusting over and glad that I get to keep are these nesting metal tables… adorable!

Side Stripes

After gluing this little side table… I was frustrated because the slats of wood on the bottom shelf weren’t lining up right and it was noticeable that it was not one solid piece of wood.  Then I thought I could use that to my advantage and paint each piece a different color.

 Yippee!  Problem solved!

I painted the entire table white and then I placed masking tape along the edge of each slat creating a perfect straight edge to paint against. 

I used only colors I already had… which most of all are the wall colors of my house. 

The end result is a super cute striped side table that could go in literally any room of my house!

i.love.lamp.

This side table lamp was given to me by my friend Megan’s parents.  I can’t quite remember how they obtained it, but they knew that I could bring it back to life.  So it has been sitting unused in my room for months now.  I was trying to draw inspiration from somewhere… anywhere.  But it wasn’t until I saw vintage lamp redone that I knew it needed to be painted a bright color.

I was so carried away that I almost forgot to take a ‘before’ picture.  So here is the lamp with just a little green paint on it…

And here it is now!

After brushing on two full coats of Organic Garden and letting it dry, I sanded off the edges to give it some dimension and texture.  Now all I need is a lamp shade to finish it off! 

Lagoons, Licorice Sticks and Sun Rays

So a couple of weekends ago my mom and I decided to rent a booth at the Nashville Flea Market with only 5 days to prepare. {Insert the YIKES! here} So I went on a crafting and furniture flipping marathon that resulted in me painting till midnight every night and several colors of spray paint in my hair.  One of the many things that I worked on to sell at the Flea was this adorable toddler bed. 

The original finish was wood.  In one of my late night crafting adventures, I came up with this color palette, and was spray painting in my backyard with a flash light.

I am in love with this color combo so I can guarantee that you will be seeing it again on another project.  I will be posting for the rest of the month of makeovers that made it to the Flea!  Stay Tuned!

Coffee Table Reveal

So last month i asked you guys to tell me what to do with my coffee table.  It used to be a white washed pine coffee table that had seen better days.  I took your advice, and thanks to you the coffee table has been repainted and displays my new favorite quote by Darin Lane.

I also spray painted the tray on the table to hold our growing number of remotes and to cut down on the clutter.  I should have thought of that sooner.

Tomorrow i will show you how i blocked the letters on the table.
